Mind, Horse, Human
Exploring the human within the horse-human relationship.
What can your relationship with your horse invite you to notice about yourself?
This isn't a riding program.
It isn't about fixing your horse.
And it isn't about becoming a more confident or perfect rider.
Mind, Horse, Human is a six-session equestrian wellbeing program for anyone curious about the relationship between their inner world, their horse, and the way they move through life.
Who is it for?
This may be for you if you're noticing:
Overthinking your horse work
Pressure to get things right
Frustration when things don't go to plan
Difficulty with uncertainty or lack of control
Comparison to other riders
Questions about your confidence or ability
A sense of disconnect from why you started riding
A wish for a deeper relationship — with your horse, and with yourself
You don't need to be competing. You don't need to have a problem with your horse. And you don't need to be an experienced rider.
You simply need to be curious.
Built on CONNECT
Mind, Horse, Human program isn't six loosely themed sessions — it's a structured application of CONNECT, the therapeutic framework developed at Outbreath: Connect, Observe, Notice, Nurture, Engage, Communicate, Trust.
Each session moves you through this process in relationship with your horse — building presence, sharpening awareness, and ending with the practice of trust.
The Journey…
-
We begin with presence, then notice — without judgement — what we're carrying into the arena today.
The invitation: What's here, before I try to change it? -
We get specific — the thoughts, body sensations, and patterns that show up when things don't go to plan. But it's worth noticing the other side too: what happens in us when things do go well? Ease can be just as revealing as friction. Awareness of the small details — in both — creates choice.
The invitation: What happens inside me when things don't go the way I expected?
-
Description text goes hereWe pause to notice how much kindness — or judgement — we're bringing to our own experience. Growth happens in safe, supportive spaces, and that includes the space we make for ourselves.
-
We step into real relationship — trust, boundaries, choice, consent — with the courage to let it be genuinely uncertain rather than scripted.
The invitation: What conditions am I creating for connection to be possible?
-
We explore the gap between intention and what's actually being expressed — clarity, timing, pressure, and listening, both to the horse and to ourselves.
The invitation: Am I asking, or am I trying to make something happen?
-
We bring the pieces together — noticing where these patterns show up beyond the arena, in work, relationships and the way we move through life, before landing where the framework always leads: not certainty, but the practice of listening. To the body, to the horse, to your own inner knowing.
The invitation: Where else do I recognise this — and who do I want to be, in the arena and beyond it?
How it works
Six individual 1 hour sessions, scheduled weekly or fortnightly arranged to suit individual.
Sessions may involve conversation, groundwork, time with horses, reflection, or simply sitting quietly and talking — the balance depends on you and what the moment calls for. Sometimes the most valuable thing that happens with a horse is nothing at all.
What people may take away
We don't set out to make you a better rider. But when the relationship between you and your horse deepens — more trust, clearer communication, less friction — it tends to show up everywhere, including in the saddle. Not because we chased it. Because it was never separate from the rest.

The Difference
Your horse is a relational partner, not a prop or a simplistic mirror. We pay attention to their communication, choice and boundaries, just as we do yours, within an ethical, experiential process. The wellbeing of both horse and human matters here.
